I Say……..Neee!!!

blas⋅pheme [blas-feem, blas-feem] verb, -phemed, -phem⋅ing.

 –verb (used with object)

1. to speak impiously or irreverently of (God or sacred things).
2. to speak evil of; slander; abuse.
–verb (used without object)
3. to speak irreverently of God or sacred things; utter impieties.

What is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit

I myself am confused on the subject. People claim that this “unpardonable sin” can be committed today. Still others claim that it cannot. So I pose the question to you the reader.  The question comes in three parts:

1. What is it.?

2. Can it be committed today?

3. Can a believer commit it?

  1. There is a whole world of discussion surrounding the idea of blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

I think one good rule of thumb is that if you’re concerned about it, you haven’t done it.

  2. Darrell has a point. If you are still concerned, there is an element of repentance in you.
The point of this piece of information is related to what just occurred. The Jewish leaders just called the power by which Jesus did his miracles, “Demonic”. That power is the Holy Spirit and Jesus sets out to rebuke them on this.
Be very wary of calling the things the Holy Spirit does “demonic” or anything of the sort – c.f. the gifts of the Spirit.

I would be more concerned about something much more Common that Jesus says, “if you don’t do this, you can’t be forgiven.” To see what I’m talking about, check out this post. – http://undergroundchurch.wordpress.com/2009/05/11/the-toughest-scripture-in-the-bible/

  3. I don’t want to answer your questions on principle. No one has ever been able to explain it before and I don’t think we should start now. Its tradition.

Instead I have some questions for you.

    WHAT is your name?

    WHAT is you quest?

    WHAT is your favorite color?
